The following is a set of reference ranges that can be used for reading and interpreting blood tests.
Some of the reference ranges will be based on those provided in ‘Blood Chemistry and CBC Analysis‘ (BCCA) by Dicken Weatherby, N.D. and Scott Ferguson, N.D.
The list will be expanded as needed.
Preliminary Notes
Always combine blood test results with other forms of examinations to achieve the broadest and most complete assessment possible. The following are useful evaluations:
- Detailed Health Assessment Questionnaire
- Basal Body Temperature Test (thyroid gland evaluation)
- Physical symptomatology examination
- Iridology
- Reflexology
- Applied kinesiology
- [IF THE CLIENT ALREADY HAS] Additional laboratory tests (e.g. hair tissue mineral analysis, etc.)
A blood test on its own can sometimes be very misleading, especially since blood chemistry can fluctuate drastically as a result of detoxification.
Notable inaccuracies (as denoted from the ‘Detox Miracle Sourcebook‘) include:
- Serum electrolyte levels vs. utilization
- Hormone levels
- Glucose/fructose utilization
- Etiology of immune responses

Standard International Units: 155-200 X 10^9/L
= 155.000-200.000
Caution: <50 or >700 X 10^9/L
= less than 50.000 or greater than 700.000
Standard U.S. Units: 155-200 X 10^3/mm^3
= 155.000-200.000
Caution: <50 or >700 X 10^3/mm^3
= less than 50.000 or above 700.000
NOTE(S): Dr. Morse prefers platelets equal to or greater than 200.000. BCCA sets 155.000 as the low-end minimum. The Detox Miracle Sourcebook sets 415.000 as the maximum.
Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN)

Standard International Units: 1.428-1.785 mmol/L
Caution: <1.428 or >1.785 mmol/L
Standard U.S. Units: 4-5 mg/dL
Caution: <4 or >6 mg/dL
NOTE(S): In clinical work, Dr. Morse has noted BUN levels settling in between 4 to 5 mg/dL as a result of bringing the body into a state of health and consuming a low protein diet.
Creatinine

Standard International Units: 26.5-53.4 µmol/L
Caution: ≥61.8 µmol/L
Standard U.S. Units: .3-.6 mg/dL
Caution: ≥.7 mg/dL
NOTE(S): In clinical work, Dr. Morse has noted creatinine levels settling within the range of .3-.6 as a result of detoxifying and rebuilding the health of kidney tissues.
BUN/Creatinine Ratio
Optimal Ratio: 10:1 – 20:1
